A Mustang that is handed over twice, once at the car and once on your phone.
An electric car is signed in to its owner. The app on your phone, the key cards, the charging account, the profile that remembers your seat. Selling it means signing out as well as handing over the keys.
We walk through that with you at the car. The battery state of health is read, the charging gear is valued, the offer is firm, and you are paid by bank transfer the same day.

Two handovers
The keys are the easy part of selling an electric car
The second handover is on your phone, and it is the one most sellers have never had to do before.
A petrol car changes hands when the keys and the paperwork do. An electric car has a second life on your phone. The app that unlocks it and warms the cabin, the account the public chargers bill to, the driver profile with your seat and your mirrors in it, the key cards in a drawer somewhere. All of that is still yours on the day you sell, and all of it has to be handed over or switched off.
None of it is difficult, and none of it is a reason to hesitate. It is a list, and we go through it with you at the car so nothing is left connected to a vehicle you no longer own. Removing the car from your account, handing across every key card, making sure the charging account stays yours and the car leaves it. The person who comes out has done it many times and does it with you rather than leaving it as homework.
The rest is the appraisal every electric car gets from us. The battery state of health is read at the car. The charging lead, the wall box if it is coming, and any adaptors are valued with the car. Anything owing is settled directly with the financier, with the shortfall in writing first if there is one. Then the offer is made at the car, the contract is signed on your phone, and the money arrives by bank transfer the same day.
On the call
Five things we ask before a Mustang changes hands
The answers shape the handover as much as the appraisal.
- Is the car still linked to your phone?
- Almost always yes, and that is fine. We remove it together at the car, after the contract is signed and before the keys change hands, so you are not left with an app that opens somebody else's car.
- How many key cards and keys do you have?
- Count them before the visit, including the one in the drawer. Every one you hand over is one the next owner does not have to replace, and one missing is a thing to say now rather than discover later.
- Did it charge at home, at work or on the road?
- A wall box in the garage, a socket at work, or public chargers only. It tells us whether there is a box to value and what sort of life the battery had. If the box stays with the house, say so.
- Is there finance or a novated lease on it?
- Settled directly with the financier either way. Tell us who and roughly how much, and if the payout is more than the car is worth you have the shortfall in writing before you sign anything.
- What came in the boot when it was delivered?
- The charging lead, the adaptors, the tyre kit, the parcel shelf. What is still with the car is valued with it. What has gone is worth mentioning on the call rather than at the car.
At the handover
Three things we do at a Mustang handover
- The car leaves your phone before it leaves your driveway. Removed from your account at the car, with you, after the contract is signed. Nothing stays connected to a car you no longer own.
- The battery and the gear are both in the figure. State of health read at the car, the lead and the wall box valued with it if they are coming. Nothing is left out and nothing is taken on trust.
- Paid the same day, finance and all. Any loan or novated lease paid directly, the balance to you by bank transfer the same day, the contract signed on your phone.
Before the call
Three questions from Mustang owners about the handover
Do I need to reset the car before you come?
No. Leave it as it is. Resetting it early can lock you out of your own car, and we do the account removal together at the car once the contract is signed.
I only ever charged it at public chargers. Does that matter?
It tells us the battery lived a particular life and that there is no wall box to value, and we read the battery at the car either way. There is nothing to apologise for and the offer is made the same way.
What happens to the charging account?
It is yours, not the car. We make sure the car is removed from it at the handover so nobody else charges on your account, and anything else connected to the car goes the same way.
Tell us about the Mustang and what is still linked to it. We handle the handover and pay the same day.
Or call us on 03 9000 0075 and talk it through first.
