A Ranger that plugs in, with a tray full of things to count.

Two kinds of gear come with this ute. The charging lead and maybe a wall box at one end, and the canopy, the tow bar, the racks and the liner at the other.

We ask about both before we come out, value what is coming with the ute, make a firm offer at it and pay by bank transfer the same day.

A ute that plugs in is sold with two lists of equipment

Most utes come with things bolted on. This one also comes with things that plug in, and both lists belong in the figure.

A ute collects equipment. A canopy or a hard lid over the tub, a tow bar, a bull bar, roof racks, a tub liner, a light bar, the drawers a tradie fits in the back. Some of it was on the ute the day it was delivered and some of it went on over the years, and when the ute is sold the owner has to decide what stays on it and what comes off for the next vehicle.

A ute that plugs in collects a second list. The charging lead that came with it, a wall box if one was fitted at the depot or the house, and whatever adaptors have accumulated. Owners rarely think of that list as part of the ute, because it lives in a bag or on a wall. It is part of the sale, and it is valued with the ute rather than left behind.

So before we come out we ask for both lists, and we ask which items are staying. What is staying is appraised with the ute. What is coming off is simply not part of it, and nobody holds that against you. The battery is read at the ute like any plug in, the engine and the tub and the underside get looked at like any ute, and the offer is made standing next to it. Then you are paid by bank transfer the same day.

On the call

Five things we ask about a Ranger that plugs in

What is fitted, what is coming with it, and how it was used. None of it is a test.

What is fitted to it, and what is staying?
Canopy, lid, tow bar, bull bar, racks, liner, drawers. List what is on it and say what is coming off for the next vehicle. What stays is appraised with the ute. What goes is simply not in the figure.
Where is the charging lead, and is there a wall box?
In the ute, in the shed, or nobody has seen it since delivery. A wall box that is coming off the wall with the ute is valued. One that stays where it is bolted is a complete answer too.
Did you charge it, or did it mostly run on the engine?
Both are ordinary. It tells us whether the battery or the engine did the work, which is where the person who comes out starts looking, and it does not change whether there is an offer.
Has it towed, and how often?
A boat on weekends, a trailer every day, or never. Towing wears a ute in particular places and we look there first if you tell us. It does not change whether we buy it.
Whose name is on the paperwork?
Yours, a company or a lease provider. A ute bought through a business has a different name on the contract and the payment goes to that account. Tell us on the call and the visit is booked around whoever signs.

Both lists counted

Three things that hold on this ute

  • What stays on the ute goes into the figure. Canopy, bar, racks, lead and box alike. If it is coming with the ute it is valued with the ute, and if it is coming off nobody holds that against you.
  • It is appraised as a ute and as a plug in. The tub, the underside and the engine like any ute. The battery and the charging gear like any plug in. One visit, one offer, at the ute.
  • Paid by bank transfer the same day. Finance or lease settled directly with the financier, any shortfall in writing first, and the balance paid into the business or personal account the same day.

Before the call

Three questions from owners of the ute that plugs in

I am keeping the canopy for the next ute. Is that a problem?

No. Say so on the call and it never enters the figure. Nothing is held against a ute for equipment that was never part of the sale.

It barely got charged. Does that matter?

It tells us the engine, not the battery, did most of the work, which is as common as the other way round. The inspector starts there, and the offer is made at the ute as usual.

The ute is in the business name. How does the payment work?

Whoever can sign for the business signs the contract on a phone, and the money goes by bank transfer into the business account the same day. The contract of sale and the payment record go to whoever keeps the books.

Tell us what is on the Ranger and what is coming with it. We appraise both and pay the same day.
