Most people who sell us a hybrid were never looking for an electric car buyer. They were looking for someone who wanted the car.
The name on this site puts a lot of hybrid owners off before they have read a line, and it is worth saying plainly why it should not. We buy electric cars, plug in hybrids, hybrids and mild hybrids, from any make, across the country and mostly in Victoria. A Camry that has never seen a plug is as much our business as a Model Y. The badge on the back decides which page you start on. It does not decide whether we want the car.
What a hybrid owner worries about is the part of the car they cannot see. Somewhere under the floor or behind the back seat is a battery they were never asked to think about, and the fear is that a buyer will price the whole car off that one unknown and call it prudence. We do not price a car off a part nobody has looked at. The appraisal is done at the car, by someone who looks at the whole car, and the figure we put to you is the figure we pay.
Plug in hybrids get the longer conversation, because there is more to look at. There is more under the floor, it has been charged from the wall, and the gear that charges it is part of what you are selling, so the wall box or the portable charger is valued with the car rather than left in the garage for the next owner to find. A hybrid that has never been plugged in gets the shorter one. The engine, the kilometres, the service record and the body tell most of the story, and the rest is told on the day.
Finance is settled the same way on every one of them. If the car is on a loan or a novated lease we pay the financier directly and you get the balance. If the payout comes to more than the car is worth, that shortfall goes to you in writing before you sign, and nothing moves until you say so. The paperwork happens on your phone.

Five things we ask before anyone drives out
Questions, not assumptions. The answers decide who comes to you and what they bring.
- Does it plug in?
- The one question that changes the appraisal most. A plug in hybrid has a charging lead and often a wall box, both of which are valued, and a battery that has lived a different life from one that was only ever topped up by the engine. If you are not sure, say so. Nobody is marked down for not knowing.
- Whose name is on the paperwork?
- Yours, a company, a lease provider or a finance company. It decides who signs, who is paid and what has to be settled first, and sorting it out on the first call is the difference between one visit and two.
- What is still owing on it?
- Rough is fine. A loan balance or a lease payout is settled directly with whoever is owed, and if it is more than the car is worth you hear that from us in writing before anything is signed.
- What has it been doing?
- A hybrid bought for the school run and one that has done a rideshare shift every night wear in different places, and neither is a problem. We ask so the person who comes out knows what to look at, and so the range we talk about on the phone is close to the offer at the car.
- Where is the car, and when suits?
- Home, work or somewhere else, and we come to it. Inside Melbourne you can also bring it to us in Thomastown if that is easier. Tell us early if the car is not where you are, or if it is not currently driving.

Three things that hold on every hybrid we buy
- It is appraised as the car it is. Not as a category with a number attached. The person who comes out looks at the whole car, and the offer is made standing next to it.
- The offer is firm and the payment is the same day. Bank transfer, on the day, once the paperwork is signed on your phone.
- Anything owing is handled by us. Loan or novated lease, paid out directly, with any shortfall in writing before you commit to anything.

Do you buy hybrids, or only electric cars?
Both, and plug in hybrids and mild hybrids with them. The name of the business is not the limit of what we buy. If your car has a petrol or diesel engine and a hybrid badge, it belongs on this page, and the form at the top takes it by make and model.
Is a plug in hybrid sold differently from a hybrid?
The sale is the same. The appraisal takes a little longer, because a plug in has charging gear to value and more to look at before the offer is made. Bring the lead and anything else that came with the car, or tell us where it is, and it is counted.
What if my make is not on this page?
The pages on this site cover the hybrids we have written about so far, not the limit of what we buy. Pick the make and the model in the form, or choose Other and type them in, and the call, the appraisal at the car and the same day payment are the same.
